The Human Communication and Interaction Research Group www.hci-rg.comYou are in the section: Technologies (Tirsus X).
Tirsus X Tirsvs X is a web-based educational application which relies in user adaptation and multidimensional navigation techniques. It aimes to turn the learning process of historic events into an easy and interesting subject. Moreover it tries to develop a generic eLearning framework that may be used as a generic-purpose engine to build learning applications with similar features.
The topic choosen to test the benefits of our techniques has been the Spanish Civil War in Asturias.
The application organizes and structures the base of knowledge in a space-time manner, so it allows different ways of navigation through the same information. The combination of all of these navigation techniques provides the user a global image of the events, as well as an easy access to the data.
In the other hand, the adaptative support is based on a user-model built over some important user parameters which are collected by mean of several tests. This allows the adaptation of the application depending on different user backgrounds, his/her prior knowledge and even different user ages. At the same time it allows the user to explore and navigate the application freely.
A picture is better that 1.000 words, an a motion picture is even better! The videos below include demostration of some of the best features of this technology:
Tirsus X. This video shows the hand held device support capabilities of this technology [Video length: 02:34].
