Conferences

Since 2001 we have organized several local conferences on Human-Computer Interaction in Oviedo. The main goals of this series of events are:

A description of each of those conferences is included in this document, as well as the academic and research material developed as a result (posters, programs, presentations and videos), which is available for download.

Usability Engineering 2009 (May, 2009)

Poster of the Fourtheenth Conference on Human-Computer Interaction.

The conference was held at the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) and the School of Engineering of Gijon (EPSIG, Gijón) in May, 2009.

Our invited keynote speakers for this conference were Dr.Yoshiro Kawahara (The University of Tokyo, Japan) and MSE Hiroshi Tamura (Hakuhodo, Tokyo, Japan)

Usability Engineering 2008 (May, 2008)

Poster of the Thirteenth Conference on Human-Computer Interaction.

The conference was held at the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in May 19 - 20, 2008.

Our invited keynote speakers for this conference were Dr. Steven Furnell, Dr. Nathan Clarke (The Network Research Group, University of Plymouth, UK), MSE Dipak Surie (Cognitive Computing Group, University of Umeå, Sweden), Dr. Wojciech Wiza, Angelika Farat, Magdalena Kitowska, Monika Szankowska (The Poznan University of Economics, Poland) and Dr. Avouris Nikolaos (The Human-Computer Interaction Group, University of Patras, Greece).

Usability Engineering 2007 (April, 2007)

Poster of the Second Usability Engineering.

The conference was held at the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in April 12, 2007.

Our invited keynote speaker for this conference is Dr. Wojciech Wiza (Department of Information Technology, The Poznan University of Economics, Poland).

The video El Rescate del Cerebro de PDVSA will be discussed during the conference. The video shows one of the most massive hacker attack and electronic sabotage in the History.

The conference was held at the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in March 20 - 24, 2006. It included 12 presentations.

Our invited keynote speakers for this conference were Dr. Steven Furnell, Dr. Paul Dowland, Dr. Nathan Clarke, Dr. Bogdan Guitha (The Network Research Group, University of Plymouth, UK) and Dr. Wojciech Wiza (Department of Information Technology, The Poznan University of Economics, Poland).

Tenth Conference on HCI (December, 2005)

The conference was held at the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in December 13 - 15, 2005. It included 24 presentations.

Our invited keynote speaker was MSE Dipak Surie, who visited us from the Cognitive Computing Group, University of Umeå (Umeå, Sweden).

Ninth Conference on HCI (April, 2005)

The conference was held in the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in April 19 - 21, 2005. It included 21 presentations.

The conference's invited lecturer was MSE Orlando López, chairman of the software development company Dicampus (Gijon, Spain).

This conference included a tutorial on developing accessible web sites using CSS by Raúl Martín.

This was our first conference recorded in video and live broadcasted by the University of Oviedo. Please visit the Mediateca (Audiovisual center of the University of Oviedo) to download the videos.

Eighth Conference on HCI (December 2004)

The conference was held in the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in December 14 - 16, 2004. It included 27 presentations.

The conference's invited lecturer was MSE Rachid Kadouche, who visited us from the Handicom Lab, Institut Nationale des Télécommunications (Paris, France).

This conference also included the following tutorials:

  • The Inxena Video Games Framework (BSE Juan Francisco Valdés).
  • Scientific Document Edition using Latex (MSE Jorge Manrubia).
  • Heuristic Usability Testing (MSE Marcos González).
  • Developing solid code (MSE Jorge Manrubia).

Seventh Conference on HCI (July 2004)

One of the posters of the Seventh Conference on Human-Computer Interaction.

This was our longest conference ever (one week and a half long!) being held in the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in July 12 - 21, 2004.

This conference included 22 presentations and a tutorial on Human-Computer Interaction with additional 10 different presentations.

The conference's invited lecturer was Dr. Wojciech Wiza, who visited us from the Department of Information Systems of the Poznan University of Economics (Poland).

This was the first time that we included a one day session of presentations in English.

Sixth Conference on HCI (December 2003)

This was our first three day long conference, being held in the Faculty of Education Science (Oviedo) in December 15 - 17, 2003. The conference included 19 presentations.

The conference's program included a tutorial on Remote Usability by BSE Marcos González.

This was our first conference including special social events not related with Human-Computer Interaction such as funny films and documentaries.

This was our first conference longer than one day. It was held in the Technical School of Computing Science of Oviedo (EUITIO, Oviedo) in July 8 - 10, 2002. This conference included 20 presentations.

The conference's invited lecturer was MSE Carlos Ballesteros, who visited us from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of La Pampa (Argentina).

The conference included a special session on video games by BSE Marcos González.

The conference's invited lecturer was Dr. Jesús Lorés, chairman of the Spanish Association for Human-Computer Interaction (AIPO) who visited us from the University of Lérida (Spain).
