The Human Communication and Interaction Research Group (HCI-RG) has been recognized by receiving several awards for their teamwork and excellence.
Held every two years, the ONCE International Research and Development Award in New Technologies for the Blind and Visually Impaired is aimed at promoting technological developments that make a substantial contribution to facilitating the integration and normalisation of blind and visually impaired people.
SHINOBU project received this award for its contribution to improvement in the performance of outdoor activities of visually impaired people. The system provides navigational assistance for its use in public transit networks.
The Award was given by the Minister of Education and Social Care Mercedes Cabrera.

The Vodafone Research Awards are promoted by the Vodafone Company and the Spanish Office for Science and Technology and it its specially targeted to novel research projects on mobile technologies.
Our Oberón project, received the Best Research Project on Mobile Technologies Award 2008. This project provides augmented accessibility support for users of public transportation systems such as bus, underground and commuter trains.
The Award was given by the Minister of Science and Research Cristina Garmendia.
